LIVE GEMS: GEORGE THE POET- YOLO [Later with Jools Holland]

It's been a minute but here's a very special Live Gem courtesy of London poet, George The Poet. Extremely talented, eloquent, and just smart, He shares the same management as the team behind some UK's most exciting new talent like soul singer, Jacob Banks and producer, Wizzy Wow. Having appeared on BBC Radio 1Xtra, George is rapidly putting spoken word on the map as a fresh and exciting form of artistic expression- and audiences are really connecting to what he has to say. It's little wonder he was booked to perform on the legendary show Later... with Jools Holland. Check out this piece of lyrical awesomeness right here- this is "YOLO".

Poetry Buzz: LionHeart

From: Vocals and Verses.com

Check out this spoken word poet. He goes by the name of LionHeart and has been doing the rounds on the underground scene. I first saw him at Vocals and Verses in August last year and I've seen him perform lots of times since. He performs thought provoking poetry about topics such as love, sex, politics and education, with effortless cool and elegance. He has also produced great video visuals to accompany some of his pieces, like engaging poem, They Shot Things. For me though, nothing beats hearing poetry live and LionHeart has performance down! You get energy, education and most of all you get heart! Have a watch of the video for his poem No Make-up Today.

Poetry Buzz: G.R.E.E.d.S

South London poet, GREEdS at the Vocals and Verses Christmas Special in December. He is a great talent I'm sure some of you haven't really considered poetry since daydreaming during English lit classes about Keats and Tennyson but, let me tell you there is a thriving urban poetry scene in London with super talented artists waxing lyrical about everything from love and sex to poverty and corruption. GREEdS is one such artist. Check out this piece about growing up in South London set to a nostalgic 90's beat.
